Childhood Cancer Sucks!

Remember Me?

I am blessed to have a healthy 5 year old daughter. Some parents are not so fortunate. Their “little treasures” have been dealt an ugly challenge: childhood cancer.

The courage and faith of these kids is amazing. Even on the worst days, they seem to dig deep and remain positive, inspiring everyone around them. In the course of their treatment, many of these children involuntarily lose their hair.

I have always had a full head of hair. In solidarity with these young heroes, I’m willing to go bald … that is, if my friends, family, and colleagues are willing to make a donation to help find a cure for childhood cancer. I will be one of 250+ “shavees” at the Portland Saint Baldrick’s Day event on Saturday, May 14th. If you donate, you are more than welcome to come to Oaks Park at 1:00 p.m. to laugh at me. So far, I’ve raised about half of my annual goal.

Your donation by credit card or check will be processed directly by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The Saint Baldrick’s Foundation is doing amazing work. In the past 11 years, this national, grassroots effort has raised $113,000,000+ for childhood cancer research! Some of the grants have even been awarded to OHSU, Doernbecher, and Shriners here in Portland. And we’re winning the battle one step at a time! Read more about Saint Baldrick’s at www.stbaldricks.org.

For Sherry, Rileigh Ann, and I, supporting Saint Baldrick’s is a family priority. All three of us have been working to recruit shavees and raise funds throughout the past year.

Please be as generous as your means allow.

Thanks!

Help us fight childhood cancer! This morning was the pre-event for the 2011 Portland Saint Baldrick’s Event. Watch this video from KGW @ Sunrise featuring Drew Carney, Timber Joey (mascot of the Portland Timbers), and the president of Alaska Airlines get their heads shaved.

I’m getting my head shaved for Saint Baldrick’s next week. Your support is appreciated.
